Welcome to the 2010 training programme for strawbale and natural building with amazonails is now available here! There are many new courses, so we hope you'll find something you want whether you're interested in sustainable building, or planning to build your own house, or developing your professional skills.All our courses are approved by RIBA and will count as your CPD if you're a member.Here you will find a list of our courses held at our training venue in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, by date or by course title.

We offer workshops and courses that cover building an entire structure from start to finish, or focus on specific parts of the process such as laying foundations, building the straw walls, clay plastering or lime rendering.

All courses will provide you with the theory of the techniques you will use, plus lots of hands-on building experience, offering a fantastic opportunity to discover for yourself what Strawbaling is all about. The courses are suitable for all levels of experience, from the complete novice to professional builders, from those who are just dipping their toes into the world of sustainable building to those who already have expertise in related fields, because our teaching methods are straightforward and inclusive. If you're thinking of building your own Strawbale structure, or of working on someone else's, our courses will prove invaluable in providing the experience and know-how to do so.

Our seminars explain in detail the theory and practicalities of Strawbale building. These are particularly recommended for those wishing to embark on large scale projects - architects or construction professionals, but are also suitable for beginners, as they give an excellent overview of the subject.

Unless otherwise stated all courses are charged £65 per person per day which includes lunch and refreshments.

Saturday 23rd- Sunday 24th - Practical All Rounder

This 2 day course will be an information packed event covering the basic history and theory of straw bale building and clay and lime plastering with a bonus of a hands-on opportunity with straw wall building and natural plastering also!

February

Saturday 13th- Sunday 14th - Practical All Rounder

Saturday 27th - Introduction to Straw Bale Building

This 1 day course introduces you to the basic theory, history and practicalities of straw bale building as practised in the UK.

March

Monday 22nd - Friday 26th - Build a Mini Studio in 5 days!

This 5 day course will cover the basic background of straw bale building as well as give you the opportunity to have some hands on experience as you help us build a mini building in 5 days by learning and using basic straw bale building skills. (Due to time constraints this course does not cover lime/clay plastering)

This 2 day course will cover the basic background and applications of clay and lime use in buildings. This course is for building contractors, professional plasterers & total beginners, provides a great opportunity to experience and assess the remarkable benefits of plastering with natural clay finishes. The object of the course is to learn about clay and lime plasters and where, why and how to use clay or lime plaster in your own buildings.
